Investment Associate (Japan)

We are looking for an Associate to join our Investment Team in Tokyo, Japan.  As an Associate, you will play a vital role on Scrum’s investment team, leading efforts to source investments, conduct due diligence, support portfolio companies, and develop market theses. You will also contribute to marketing and brand-building initiatives.  The role offers exposure to global venture ecosystems, particularly between the U.S. and Japan.

• テクノロジー業界と積極的に関わり、パートナーシップの構築およびポートフォリオ企業への戦略的支援

• 企業評価や重要な議論の記録・管理

• 業界トレンドを把握し、ネットワークを構築するためのイベント・カンファレンス・ネットワーキング活動への参加

• 既存及び潜在的なリミテッドパートナー（LP）との信頼関係の構築

• ファンド運営チームと連携し、ファンド運営に関する業務を支援

• スクラムブランドを構築するマーケティング施策の企画・実行

• Identify high-potential investment opportunities through various channels.

• Screen initial investments to determine if resources should be allocated

• Conduct diligence to analyze operational, technical, and financial aspects of companies

• Support portfolio companies with strategy and various projects

• Engage actively with the technology ecosystem to foster partnerships and provide strategic support to Scrum portfolio companies

• Maintain thorough documentation of company assessments and key discussions

• Attend events, conferences, and networking functions to stay up to date on industry trends and build network

• Build trustful relationships with our existing and potential limited partners

• Support fund management activities in collaboration with the Fund Ops team

• Help plan and execute marketing initiatives to build the Scrum brand

• ベンチャーキャピタル、プライベート・エクイティ、投資銀行、または戦略コンサルティングの経験（3年以上）

• スタートアップでの業務経験（必須ではない）

• テクノロジー・起業・ベンチャーキャピタルへの強い関心

• チームワークを重視しながらも、主体的に行動できる能力

• 細部に注意を払う几帳面さ

• 優れた対人能力およびコミュニケーション能力

• 定量分析能力

• 速いペースの環境におけるマルチタスク・優先順位付けのスキル

• PowerPointおよびExcelの業務レベルのスキル

• 優れた学業成績

• 日本語（ネイティブレベル）および英語（ビジネスレベル）での優れたコミュニケーション能力（口頭・書面）を有する方

• 3 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or strategy consulting

• Operational experience at a startup is preferred although not a requirement

• Strong and demonstrated interest in technology, entrepreneurship, and venture capital

• Strong ability to collaborate in a team while maintaining a self-starter mindset

• Strong interpersonal and quantitative skills and high attention to detail

• Strong communication skills; both verbal and written

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

• PowerPoint and Excel capabilities

• Outstanding academic track record

• Fluency in both Japanese (native level) and English (business level)

• Be able to commute to our Tokyo office
